OIEE launches first virtual professional development workshop for program alumni
The Office of Intercultural and Educational Experiences (OIEE) has launched a three-part professional development workshop series for program alumni that teach English as a Foreign Language. The first workshop titled Computers and Technology in Language Teaching occurred on Saturday, February 6 and was a huge success. OIEE was pleased to collaborate with Dr. Bobby Hobgood, the Director of the Language Resource Center in the Department of Languages and Culture Studies at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, to deliver this workshop. The attendees learned about a variety of new technologies that they can incorporate into their classes, and were able to try out these new technologies during the workshop. These technologies will especially aid our program alumni who continue to teach remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, even after we return to the classroom for face-to-face instruction, the teachers can continue to incorporate these technologies into their teaching to engage with students in new and different ways. One attendee shared, “I was so happy and excited to be a part of your last amazing program. It was informative and interesting.” We are so pleased to be able to offer this series and to be able to continue engaging with our amazing program alumni!
